Setting the pace towards Busan

The Fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan (HLF4) in November is a critical moment for the future of development cooperation. It is a chance for the development community to not only assess the progress it has made against the Paris and Accra aid reform commitments, but also to build upon them by agreeing to bolder and more comprehensive reform of development cooperation in order to maximize its support for the world’s poorest people.

Planning towards the next milestone in the aid effectiveness agenda began last week on the 25th -28th October with the meeting of the OECD DAC Working Party on Aid Effectiveness (WPEFF) in Paris.

Civil Society at the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness Plenary Meetings

Just days after the 40th anniversary of donor commitments to give 0.7% of their income as development aid, the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness will hold its plenary meeting on 27-28 October at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris.

More development aid channeled through the banks as UN is increasingly sidelined, OECD Report finds

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has just released the "2010 DAC Report on Multilateral Aid" report which looks at recent trends in development aid provided by multilateral institutions such as the World Bank and the United Nations .

Call for CSO involvement in the 2011 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration

The Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness commits donors and partner countries to increase efforts in the harmonization, alignment and management of aid for results, with a set of monitorable actions and indicators. The Accra Agenda for Action builds on these commitments. The Working Party on Aid Effectiveness’s 2011 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration follows previous surveys conducted in 2006 and 2008, and will be critical in determining whether the targets set in the Paris Declaration for 2010 have been met. These results will form a key contribution to discussions at the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (Korea, November 2011).
