The shift to development effectiveness in Cambodia

The Cambodian platform of civil society organisations working on development cooperation in Cambodia- the Cooperation Committee Cambodia (CCC)- has solidified plans to increase awareness of the PD and AAA in Cambodia and to promote the discussion on moving from aid effectiveness to development effectiveness among development actors.

In 2009 and 2010, CCC ran five regional training workshops and several multi-stakeholders workshops aiming to build the capacity of NGOs across Cambodia on the PD Principles on as well as to hold development partners and the Cambodian government to their commitments to deepen the engagement of CSOs in the development process in line with the AAA.

Subsequently, NGOs in Cambodia are now able to engage in dialogues on the national aid and development effectiveness agenda with the Royal Government of Cambodia and development partners.

The CCC is planning a series of activities with Reality of Aid and IBON from September 2010 to December 2011 to build on this success:

September - October 2010

Literature review on international and national experiences related to aid and development effectiveness to serve as a knowledge base for NGOs and help shape the direction for their discussion.

September 2010

Meetings with umbrella NGOs and sectoral groups to deepen their understanding of the principles of PD and AAA.

Ongoing

Researching case studies on modalities of engagement between local and international NGOs and multi-stakeholders’ engagement on aid and development effectiveness in Cambodia.
