Indonesia holds its first sub-national consultation on aid effectiveness

At a multistakeholders’ meeting in July in Jakarta, with the government, donors and civil society organizations (including business associations), it was decided that the development effectiveness agenda that has been formulated under the Jakarta Commitment in Indonesia, must be disseminated at a sub-national level.

The International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID) plans to have 4 sub-national multistakeholder dialogues. The first meeting, on 29-30 July, was attended by the Ministry of National Planning, the National Procurement Commission and INFID. The full report from the consultation will be available soon on the BetterAid website, and there will be follow-up dialogues.

In October Indonesian CSOs will meet with CSOs from Mali to discuss South South Cooperation. In December A4DES - Aid for Development Effectiveness Secretariat and INFID will hold a joint meeting to reflect on the progress of the actions taken by the government, donors and CSOs in Indonesia related to development effectiveness. Plans for actions in 2011 both for government and CSOs will also be discussed.

The government and CSOs will also cooperate in disseminating information about the development planning process which aims to promote harmonization and clarify the roles of each stakeholder in poverty alleviation programs. The national forum will probably be replicated at provincial and district level.
